"I think you and I both know that I am always looking for company for any and all wild goose chases," Luc retorted good-naturedly. "It's just not everyday that I get someone of your caliber to come along is all."
He understood Ruth's trepidation; hell, Luc wasn't 100% sold on the idea either and he'd thought of the damn thing. But, at least this way, they would know one way or the other if this was something that could be done and knowing was always better than not.
"Look at it this way, if it ends up being legit, we are playin' a whole different ballgame," Luc said, gathering up his paperwork and stuffing them back into his pocket. "...and if it ends up being a crap shoot, you'll have every right and opportunity to say 'I told you so' right to my face. Either way, you win."
Luc figured he should skedaddle while the getting was good. The quicker he left, the less time he gave Ruth to change her mind.
"I'll leave you to your work," he said, making his way to the door. "And we can touch base soon? I'll be waiting by my phone with bated breath," he added dramatically, slapping a hand to his heart and sighing deeply. He dropped the antics for a genuine, heartfelt smile and nod in Ruth's direction.
"At any rate, thanks for at least hearing me out," he said, heading out of the hanger. "Catch ya later."
