If Nathan's current demeanor was what Luc could expect under his leadership, the Head of Security suspected they'd be a pretty good team. Still, it couldn't hurt to vet him a bit. Nathan didn't seem like to type to expect nepotism to pave his way just because he was the shelter leader's brother so Luc figured he wouldn't be doing him any favors by naming him his second in command and sending him on his way. He had already been leaning toward that decision before he even met the guy but something told Luc that the new guy might not appreciate the favor if he thought it came from his sister.
"Finding your sister after all this time must have been such a trip," Luc said, raking his hand through his hair. "And honestly, you're a way better person than me because my whole family is over at the hospital and while I love them to pieces, if I had to be in the same building as all of them I'd tear my hair out. It's cool you two are so close."
While Luc had faith that most of the LBJ residents were decent people, he figured Nathan might have hit on something when he mentioned people treating him like the golden boy because of who he was related to. He suspected people were always trying to get on Savannah's good side, though the fact that Nathan looked like he walked into the library straight from a "Men's Health" magazine cover photo shoot probably didn't hurt either.
"I'm not making excuses for anyone you met over at the hospital," Luc said with a shrug. "But while they got a lot of amenities we don't have, they are under some really strict rules and regulations we don't have to adhere to in our shelter. Can't blame them for being a little paranoid but it seems you put that together in the short time you were there. I wouldn't hold it against them too much."
Calling back to an earlier comment, Luc continued. He probably held off from chatting business for long enough. He had to at least maintain some semblance of leadership here.
"The bar the kitchen staffers set is pretty damn high," Luc conceded, thinking of his own family working in the kitchens at the UMCB. "Sorry pal, but if you can't julienne and dress up some three year old canned green beans, you're going to have to settle for security detail. When do you want to start?"
