From first impressions Nathan liked the guy. Luc didn’t have the air of some of the authority figures he’d run up against, and he didn’t really think that was a bad. Something he wasn’t really used to, sure, but not everyone needed to fall under a regimen of ‘call me, sir,’ and so on and so forth. He probably wouldn’t catch himself trying to salute either, which would be damn embarrassing when no one else did shit like that.
“Guess it is,” Nathan agreed with a self-deprecating smile. He wasn’t the kind of guy that sat and flaunted his skill set, so knowing that the information had already made it’s way to Luc eased some mental tension at the idea of having to list off a verbal resume. “‘Sides, they’d kick my sorry ass outta the kitchens if I landed myself there,” he added as a joke. In truth, he would have pitched in wherever he could, but there were most definitely so positions where he would have been more of hindrance than a help. Even scavenging for resources hadn’t ticked as many boxes in his qualifications as security; he could run, but looking at their resource field he would definitely have been the odd man out.
Nathan laughed a little at the questions and nodded. “This place could be a joke and I’d still say it wasn’t bad, man. Sav’s here, so ain’t a whole hell of alot that really matters to me beyond that.” Not that he’d expect his sister to be helming anything that was in a sorry state. “The people ain’t bad either, though. Kinda starting to wonder if no one wants it to get back to the boss lady that they’ve been anything but real nice to her brother, so there hasn’t been a single run-in.” Sooner or later that would probably wear off. He wasn’t banking on the best manners indefinitely.
“Tell you what, the only people to give me any kind of attitude was the UMCB, and it was mostly warranted on both parts, so I can’t complain. Austin’s a trip though.” He wasn’t being professional, but he wasn’t getting a vibe that Luc expected it so he wasn’t all that worried either.
