Her voice almost had an echo quality to it in the environment they were in, even if the rain beat out too many reverberations. His attention snapped to her immediately, though relaxed just a tiny bit when he saw a familiar face. It was her again. The girl who'd caught his attention the other day. The one who was apparently still calling him a little mouse.
He didn't protest the name, however, and, after a brief consideration, he headed in her direction. It gave him an excuse to stay near the surface longer, to keep breathing fresher air than was all the way down in the tunnels. It gave him a little longer to breathe, period.
"Come home," he answered, figuring there was little point in lying. He was going to head home after this, and that would be back into the tunnels, so she'd know either way. He got close enough that they could easily have a conversation, but just shy of kicking distance. "You?" He eyed her. "It's not very nice down here."
