Joel and Kitty - 7:45PM
“You won’t be able to miss her. Tall, blonde, with the prettiest face in the department,” Joel replied by way of explaining Jane. Course it wasn’t difficult to be prettiest when the rest of the department looked like the line up for a Stooges movie some days.
Joel would’ve been okay with leaving the conversation at that, he wasn’t a small talk kind of guy, but the reminder that the was technically hosting the party kept him from excusing himself elsewhere. “Are you writing a book on Capitol residents?” he asked as a joke, for once mindful of his tone in a way he usually wasn’t. Kitty’s father sat on the council, after all. “Been here about a decade. Moved from Nevada.” He searched Mariah out in the room, and returned her smile when she realized he was watching her. “Have three girls, actually. Both of ‘em work over at the medical center now. Probably a few years older than you. It’s just the five of us.” He hadn’t heard from any of their extended family since all their trouble started, he didn’t know if they were still safe in California. They’d been far enough away that he couldn’t control their fate the same way he’d gone to find Mina.
There was a crash from somewhere near the kitchen which caught his attention. "I should probably check that out," he said apologetically. "Nice meeting you, Miss Gilmore."
