Reflexively, Dani rolled her eyes. Having that Southern boy ‘darlin’ aimed at her twice in one day -- and both times by a stranger -- tweaked at her patience, but this time she kept quiet on the subject. It was just that this kind of artificial familiarity was never as charming as the person employing it seemed to think, and unfortunately it was all too common.
“You’re going to want the south stairwell,” she said, beginning to gesture with her hands. “It’s down that hall, quick left and then second --” Halting with a sigh, she shook her head. There wasn't anything about the man that made him seem particularly dim, but nevertheless Dani suddenly doubted he'd be able to make much sense of her directions. It was all-too-easy to get turned around when all the halls looked the same, and half the rooms were incorrectly marked or had no sign at all.
"Never mind. You'll be better off if I just show you. It's not on my way, but I'll take a detour anyway." If he'd asked how to find any of the quieter parts of the hospital she would have turned him down right away -- heading someplace secluded with an unknown person wasn't high on her list -- but the area between here and the fourth floor living spaces would be high traffic, especially at this time of day.
"Follow me." Without waiting to see if he actually did follow, Dani headed in the direction that she indicated earlier would lead to the stairs.
