Josh pushed his lips together and dipped his head in a nod. Nora sounded surprised, but he wasn't sure if that was because she was still trying to process this whole situation, or because he had been very much a nerd in college and this would have been very unlike him. He gave her a moment to work out her thoughts, and reached up to one of the cabinets to grab a box of bandaids. He looked back over her shoulder before closing the cabinet, just to make sure Nora was still there and he wasn't hallucinating or anything.
"A Bitch. Huh." Josh considered this as he wiped any remaining blood off his thumb before applying the bandaid. He looked up when Nora repeated herself, just a hint of incredulousness to her tone.
Okay, so it was because he was a nerd.
"Yup. Turns out even a year and a half of med school is useful in a zombie apocalypse," he said mildly, tossing the remaining scraps into the trashcan. When Josh saw that Nora wasn't going to make any snarky comments about how this happened or how she couldn't believe that someone like him would ever join a biker gang, he started to smile, too. "Yeah. Yeah, it's actually really cool."
And then Josh realized that Nora was still standing, and he hadn't even offered her somewhere to rest. "I've completely forgotten my manners. Please, sit down. I'm almost done making some salsa. Do you want some?" He turned back to put the remaining ingredients together in a bowl and started mixing them together. Once he had all that done, Josh grabbed the bag of tortilla chips from the counter and placed them and the salsa on the table. "So, uh," he started awkwardly. "How did you get here, if you don't mind me asking?"
