"I am bleeding," Josh agreed absently, not thinking to go and actually do something to stop the bleeding. He just couldn't stop staring at Nora. It's not like they'd known each other that well when they were at school - completely different programs, maybe one or two mutual friends, but that was it. Sometimes she waited on him when he came into the diner for an all-nighter before an exam. They'd do the normal waitress-customer chit-chat, but not much more than that, really.
This was the first time he'd ever even thought about Nora since the world went to shit. Only when she was standing right in front of Josh did he remember that she had existed in his previous life, however small of a role. He'd almost given up hoping that one day he'd bump into an old friend, instead of an enemy or another stranger. Anyone. Josh just wanted to see someone from before all this happened, but until now the idea just seemed so ludicrous.
At Nora's question, Josh squinted at her ever-so-slightly. Asking why any of them were here was kind of a stupid question, after all. They just wanted to stay alive. "I'm, uh, I'm with Rodeo. One of his Hellhounds," he gestured to his patched jacket, and then glanced at his thumb, which was mostly done bleeding. Josh grabbed a paper towel and wet it slightly under the faucet to clean the blood off. "What are you doing here?"
