Demi and Ruth - 10:15PM
While she might not have felt like she completely fit into this world anymore, a part of her heart always miles away with Isaac and longing to be where he was. Celebrations like this lessened that feeling of being an alien in a place she used to call him and Demi was thankful for that, she was also thankful for the reason they were celebrating in the first place. Her heart swelled just thinking about it, about how the man she considered a surrogate father deserved this kind of happiness so much. After everything he had been through and the losses he had felt, this was a happy ending that Demi could have only hoped for him.
Demi had made the rounds at the party, had danced and laughed and enjoyed herself. Caught up in the energy flowing through this place, in the revelry and the buzz of joy that seemed to spark through every single person within the walls of the Dog Park. Her feet were screaming at her sit down though, and just as she stepped off of the makeshift dance floor she spotted a familiar face and had to grin -- not even Ruth it would seem was immune to getting caught up in all of this.
She didn’t announce herself or ask permission to sit down, instead Demi claimed the spot next to Ruth and considered it a win when the other woman merely raised her approve and gave her nod of greeting. “I am,” she answered with a smile and a laugh. “And forgive me if I’m making assumptions, but it would seem so are you.” Demi knew it would be pointless to try and read Ruth’s face for some kind of reaction or glimpse into how the other woman was truly feeling. She was like Fort Knox, the resource manager only letting you see exactly what she wanted you to and nothing more. “I mean it’s hard not to get caught up in all of this,” Demi swept a hand out towards the crowd, the four poster bed and the celebration that spanned out in front of them both. “If only for the sheer fact that Vic looks so damn happy.”
