Cherry and Max - 12:15AM
It was getting late. Not like, too late, but late enough for some of the unattached patches to start prowling around, trying to figure out just who they'd be going home with tonight. It was a nightly ritual that was weirdly comforting in its familiarity and the amount of attention that would be directed her way on a regular basis.
Usually, she'd be joining them and the other bitches in the Dog Park's weird courtship tradition, but tonight was a little different. First of all, her back hurt! It was hard to tell whether sex would make it feel worse. She hoped that the next man to get hitched weighed a lot less than Vic. (She also hoped it'd be Nate, since she was looking forward to Bunny getting married, but that was a totally different topic altogether.)
Second of all, she was having way too much fun dancing with Max to consider seeking out anyone else.
Not that it was a big deal -- because it wasn't! They were friends, first and foremost; he was one of the only ones he had, really, and there was no way she was going to jeopardize that. Plus, she'd never thought of him as more than a friend. She wasn't opposed, her mind just hadn't gotten around to it.
"This is a really good song," she said in his ear, loudly, so he could hear her over the music. Her arms were loose around his neck and the smile on her face felt like it would never come off. "Don't you think so?"
