This was the first time either one of them had spoken aloud the fact that Bishop had been in the dark about this pregnancy for so long. The last conversation they had had about it had been over the freenet. He can’t deny that he wished for the same thing, wished he could have been given the chance to know about it the moment Teagan had found out. But she had a made a decision and neither one of them could change the past.
Sighing softly, Bishop nods. “I wish I could have been given that chance as well,” he replied true to form of adhering to honesty in his words. “Now ain’t the time to focus on that though.” Bishop added, knowing they’d have a point in time to talk about all this -- but now was not that moment.
He moved towards the door then a hand settled on Teagan’s lower back. Bishop doesn’t want to crowd her as they walk around the Dog Park, but he stays close enough to be someone she can lean on if a contraction hits while they’re walking. Minutes pass, or maybe hours, Bishop is trying not to focus on the time because the more he focuses on the the time the more he thinks about how the doc isn’t there yet.
Secretly as they were approaching the trailer again the Chaplain hoped with all his might that they might be greeted by Pete standing outside the trailer waiting for them. He has been hoping for the doc’s appearance almost since the moment he found out Teagan was going into labor. “How’re you doing now?” Bishop questioned Teagan as the they turned the corner down one aisle of trailers and RV’s, moving back towards their own with each step that was taken.
