There are a handful of things that can always be depended on from the residents of the Dog Park, and high on that list is words traveling like wildfire through the space. It’s only been a few hours near as Noa can guess, but she’d bet more than half of the park have heard that Teagan’s back and Sonny ain’t. She doesn’t know the details, and she ain’t going to bother Teagan for them if the Patches weren’t just exaggerating her state, but Noa has an inkling that someone knows the details of why their Treasurer is back in the walls and the Road Captain ain’t. She has a small hope that it means what she thinks, and hopes T came with evidence that cleared her name right out and away from that Rat business. It’s about time that gets to be dead and buried. It’s just real unlucky that Noa stumbles right on into a mess before she gets to anyone worth asking the questions she wants to ask. It only takes a beat to locate the sound of the hysterics; the ranting and raving and bitching that’s near trademarked by Gin when she’s in a snit. Except when Noa gets a real good look she doesn’t just see anger in the lines of Gin’s face, she spots desperation and something else that makes a pit in her stomach. It’s some poor bitch trying to keep Gin from wherever she’s going, head turning back and forth like she’ll spot a Patch that can take the worked up Old Lady off her hands. Noa knows she’s going to have to step in in the absence of anyone else. She doesn’t like it, but she knows it, and already has a hand hovering near where she keeps her knife in case she needs it. “How ‘bout you go ahead and step off, Gin,” Noa interjects, making an effort to sound as calm as ever, maybe relishing in the idea that it’ll work Sonny’s woman up a little more. It ain’t like they’ve ever been real close. “Whatever you want, you ain’t going to get it by yelling yourself hoarse.” Or taking a swing at a bitch that has nothing to do with whatever’s upset her. Noa has her guess, but she isn’t going to assume. “Not that you ever get what you want, sweetheart.” |
