Marina watched as the patrolman took aim at Addie, a scream escaping as she watches the other woman fall, the fate of her unknown. Bullets were flying so fast and the moans of the shufflers combined with the yells of the prison guards and escaping prisoners below left Marina in a sensory overload. She couldn't worry about any of that though with their enemy on the roof still gunning for them.
She poked her head out of her hiding spot, getting a location on the last patrolman before hoisting herself up and taking aim. At such a close range, and with him down on ground, unable to move quickly, she knew she would make the shot. Even still, she called out, "Over here, son of a bitch," meeting his eyes before pulling the trigger and watching the protective plastic shield shatter as the bullets hit their mark. Death was never pretty, and the blood already spilling onto the rooftop was just proof of that. But it was life or death, and Marina had fought too hard to go this way.
Scanning the roof for any outstanding threats, and finding it clear, Marina stood and ran towards Addie, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
