Kenzie looked down at her baby boy and then over at the man who was standing in her doorway and starting to talk. "He's starting to repeat everything he hears, so watch your mouth, Marcus. Come on in." She turned and set Liam down on the edge of the table, the little man too busy looking at the new person in their home to realize that his mother was trying to get a good look at the ear that he was tugging at. "I'm Kenzie though, and the sick little parrot on the table here is Liam."
She sighed and kissed the top of his head, not bothering to try getting a better look at his ear. "You're new here," she called over to Marcus. "What brings you to the Dog Park? Seeking refuge from the rain or are you a new Prospect?" Kenzie couldn't help herself when she sized the man up. He'd make a good patch and she'd probably bend her rules of not sleeping with the prospects if he actually was one.
Her thoughts were cut short by Liam's needs as he started reaching out for her and grabbing at her shirt again. Kenzie sighed and pulled him into her lap, letting him rest of his head against her so that he could be close but still look at the strange new man in their home. "Can you help him?" She wanted to say us but she wasn't the one who was sick, just sleep deprived. "He needs antibiotics for an ear infection." She stroked Liam's hair as he wrapped his chubby little arms around her neck and dried his tear stained cheeks and runny nose on her shirt.
