When the whites of your eyes come through You will see something new With your body and mind restored It'll be good to see you back home
When the life in your eyes wants black Things return You've come back With your body and mind restored It's good to see you once more
Lita was an old hat at being checked into La Quinta as a visitor but that did not blunt her unease at being in the facility for a second day in a row. Her car is searched, her credentials validated, her body padded down and her reasons for visiting dissected. Everything checks out, as Lita prayed it would, and she is escorted with pragmatic efficiency to the now familiar infirmary. James and Bishop would have been released to gen pop earlier in the day, so Lita is left with a single patient in which to deal with.
Sarge's surgery could have gone so much worse considering the total lack of help and supplies she had been working with, but it certainly could have gone better. Even though she's pretty sure he's out of the woods, Lita worries about popped stitches, infection, pain management, packing the wound, internal bleeding, hygiene, sepsis and the seeming high likelihood that he could get stabbed again. Lita's not sure what they put in the water in Montgomery, Tennessee that makes boys from there magnets for deep puncture wounds at the hands of others.
"Never would have pegged you for an Ian," Lita remarks, flipping through his chart before approaching Sarge. She peeks out into the outer corridor from inside the doorway. The guards were out of earshot and she's fairly certain there aren't any surveillance precautions in the infirmary so she and Sarge are able to speak candidly to one another. Whether or not they speak civilly was a whole other issue altogether. "I was kind of hoping Sarge was a bitchin' given name. You can imagine how let down I am. How you feeling?"
