Sending Lita on her way was about the last thing Demi wanted to do. Her feelings on the matter evident on her face as the other woman addressed the other elephant in the room -- the fact that this would likely be the last time the two of them could be face to face, at least until they managed to free the officers from La Quinta.
“Can I just say this has been the worst visit ever?” Demi sighed, her arms now crossed over her chest while the reality of things continued to sink in. In the handful of months that she had known Lita, the other woman had become a lifeline to her, someone she could reach out to when nearly everyone else in her sphere of contact within the Capitol were driving her up a wall, or busy -- which was often the case for Nina and Isaac. The idea that all contact with Lita would need to be eliminated for the time being did not sit well with Demi, but it was the only thing they could do. Especially if they were both going to play their parts in whatever plan Noa and Adelaide were concocting.
Demi let out another sigh, nodding her head in understanding. “It does suck, but we have to do whatever it takes to get those guys out of there. I swear to god though, when this is all over with we’re drink and catch up, okay?”
Following Lita to the door, Demi mentally steeled herself to re-enter the living space of the apartment - fully aware that whoever was watching DemiTV was without a doubt watching them both like a hawk. Even though she had joked about giving the guy something to remember, she knew if Lita was going to keep a clean reputation around the Capitol they couldn’t suspect the doctor of being too close to her, that fact that she was even here -- and had just spent an extended bit of time with her where cameras couldn’t follow probably didn’t reflect all that well on Lita as it was.
Instead of making a scene and giving the guy a show, she simply nodded in acknowledgment as Lita rattled off information they both knew was bs. “Nope, I think you’ve covered everything Dr. Singh,” Demi answered, inwardly cringing at the formal title she never used for her friend. While she wanted to drag out this time as much as possible, she knew she couldn’t.
So with a smile that was forced, Demi motioned towards the door. “Here, let me walk you to the door.” This whole act was ridiculous and merely served to sour her already sour mood. Being on house arrest was bad enough, but losing one of the few people who kept her sane -- that was even worse. Demi knew it wasn’t permanent, and knew that eventually they would be able to talk again, but until that happened she would tack this on as just another reason to dislike the Capitol.
And the radio silence just meant that she and Lita would likely have a lot to discuss once it was safe for them to talk again.
