Demi pulled a face, laughing at her friend’s dramatic response to her reply. “Is that how relationships are deemed viable or not? By a name smush?” She asked this with quirked eyebrow and paused only a beat before she added. “Also you got to see him half naked, that has to count for something, right?”
She was smirking by this point, the tension all but gone from her body. So when Lita stood up and pulled her into a hug, Demi didn’t resist. She was by nature an affectionate person, especially with those she considered close to her -- and Lita was solidly placed in that category. Squeezing back just as tightly, Demi let out a breath she hadn’t even been aware she had been holding while she had waited for some kind of reassurance that they were okay. With those words it was like the last little weight was pulled off of her shoulders and she could breath easily again.
“Good,” she answered, her smile almost audible in her words. “It’s still weird as hell, but I’ll make my peace with it. Oh my god, I’m not sure ‘freaked out’ is a strong enough term for how he’ll react. Fuck, I hope I’m there when he’s clued into this little piece of information,” Demi hadn’t released Lita yet, but she did pulled back just far enough to look her friend in the eye. “And if I’m not you absolutely have to record it!”
Demi laughed, glancing towards the bathroom door before looking back at her friend. “Who says we can’t put on show for the cameras once we’re done in here?” It probably wouldn’t be good for Lita’s reputation if the Capitol folks thought they were involved, but the rumor mill was probably already buzzing since they had been in the bathroom longer than was entirely appropriate. “And I’m sure they’ve already come up with their own ideas as to why we’ve been in here so long. None of which come close to the real reason, I’m sure.” Because who in a million years would have assumed they shared the odd connection that they did?
Finally letting go of Lita, Demi heaved a sigh before asking. “Ready to face the cameras again?”
