Weeks later - Mid 2017
The only perceivable reaction to her remark was a slight upturn of Bishop’s mouth. Replying any other way could walk the line of flirting, and if Teagan planned on prospecting, that put her squarely in the ‘off limits’ category. So that topic slipped away easily, instead he focused on her next words.
“Careful just how you love him,” Bishop warned, not entirely sure if the love she felt for Rodeo was the kind a sibling might show, or something more. “So you’re doing it to square up some kind of debt you feel? Or is it the fight you’re looking for?” he asks this in a gentle manner. He’s seen the way she’s barely contained rage, how it crackles underneath the surface of her skin. As she continues talking, his eyes slowly creep their way up his forehead. He hasn’t seen her do much fighting outside of that thing with Pinky and he hasn’t seen her shoot, so all of this is unproven, at least to him. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but what you’re implying is that basically you’re better than most of the men here?” That’s a ballsy statement to be making, and if he were anyone else she might have run the risk of starting something. Bishop isn’t the type to get edgy over something like this though, so instead he asks his question and waits.
The Chaplain his shaking his head now. “Never said you shouldn’t, also never said I thought you shouldn’t,” he began. “And for the record I have a momma and three sisters who would have my hide if I even had the thought of resorting a woman down to being valuable for only one thing. So that ain’t it either.”
