Rodeo is a force of pure, unchecked rage. Every time his fist connects with Sarge's body, it's driven hard by anguish and fury. Teagan's betrayal is still a fresh, hemorrhaging wound in his heart, and the knowledge that Sarge just dumped on him is enough to snap whatever tenuous grip he'd been keeping on his mental stability. Learning the truth about the Queen of Spades made him question everything, every one of his brothers-- every one except for Sarge. His best friend, his brother since his smallest days, his closest comrade was the only one he could trust inside these walls. The only one he could fully believe would never betray him, never lie to him, never keep secrets from him. No matter how much Teagan's treachery devastated him, no matter how much the separation from his sister and her baby anguishes him, no matter how much the battle ahead daunts him, at least he had Sarge there by his side. At least he knew he could always lean on his best friend.
Now he doesn't even have that anymore.
If what Sarge says is true, his sister and his brother have been carrying on like this for the past two months. Two months, under his nose, never saying a word to him. Actively hiding it from him, in fact. He let them share a bed in his trailer since the explosion, and never even knew there was anything more than familial love between them. He hates the feeling of being excluded, left out, fooled by them both. To Rodeo, Sarge and Adelaide have always felt as if they were more his than each other's. Sure, they were deeply bonded, and had a powerful relationship, but in the end Sarge was his friend and Adelaide was his sister and their connection was predicated heavily on Rodeo. If they're running around behind his back kissing and falling in love, he's suddenly just the third wheel in all of this. His sister clearly didn't even feel like he was worthy of this knowledge. So much time they'd spent in his trailer, talking about anything and everything, and she never told him she felt a damn thing for Sarge beyond friendship. He thought she'd never keep anything from him, that both of their hearts were open books to each other. The fact that he was wrong, that the two people who have always been his may someday become each other's, may share a bond that excludes and trumps him completely, is enough to drive him to a crazed, manic sort of ruthlessness that has never been turned on Sarge before.
The fact that Sarge isn't fighting back only enrages him further, really. When he drops to the ground to stand in front of him, Rodeo grits his teeth and shoves his hands roughly against Sarge's shoulders. He wants his brother to raise his fists, to hit him back, to give him the battle he needs. If he just stops now, this rage will simmer inside of him, caged and maddening. He needs the catharsis of a brawl, needs to get it out before it poisons him completely.
"Fuck you," he snaps in response to Sarge's words. "Fuckin' fight me, asshole. You're gonna tell me you been kissin' my sister and then not even have the goddamn decency to fight me? Get your hands up. Get your fucking hands up."
