After his conversation with Nina the night before, Isaac didn't sleep much, too worried and frustrated at the whole situation to calm down until late into the night. And then by the time he did finally drift off, the sun was rising and all hope was lost. So he got up and ready for his day until finally the Mayor contacted him, asking him to come in.
Not knowing where Demi is, beyond the fact that Olinger has her, is unsettling. Things between them aren't that great, not by a longshot, but he still doesn't like her disappearing without a word. And the fact that the Mayor didn't fill him in on the situation until this morning leaves him a little more than upset. He can't help but wonder what kind of game Olinger is playing, but Isaac has no option but to participate and watch the chips fall as they will.
"Good morning, sir," he replies to Olinger then turns his head and gives a nod to Pernell. "Morning, Mr. Reason." The other man's presence is a bit of a shock and a sense of dread forms in the pit of his stomach. Reason is the Warden of La Quinta and he can only imagine what his involvement in this might be. But rather than letting himself focus on those conclusions, he takes the unoccupied seat among the other men and gives another nod to Olinger's question. "Coffee would be great, thanks."
There are a million questions on the tip of his tongue but he doesn't want to get Nina in trouble for telling him about her encounter with the Patrolmen the night before -- even if Nina does seem suspiciously sympathetic towards the library when it is clear where their loyalties lie. He's always tried to look past the fact that she represented the Dog King before he fashioned himself such a title and rounded up his band of merry followers, but it doesn't feel right. She's one of the most principled and disciplined people he knows, so it is baffling to say the least.
So instead he just sits and waits for his coffee and someone else to speak.
