Demi and Adelaide, 6:30PM
While she hadn’t actively been avoiding the other woman, Demi had in fact not necessarily gone out of her way to cross paths with Adelaide yet. She knew the other woman was in attendance because she had in fact catch a glimpse of her earlier. Still, maybe it was a preservation tactic, the fact that she hadn’t approached the younger Hawkins’ yet. A part of her was already assuming that much like Noa had, Adelaide would have opinions on whether Demi should be at this event today or not. She knew how it looked, she wasn’t an idiot. But she had meant it when she told Isaac she was coming because Savannah invited her, not because she knew she’d be rubbing elbows with Hellhounds and Hellhound sympathizers. Just how many people actually believed that though was another question entirely.
Still, as the crowd began to thin and it became more and more obvious that Demi was putting distance between the two of them, she realized that she might as well bite the bullet and at least say ‘hi’. So with drink and hand and fully prepared for whatever reception she might receive from the other woman, Demi crossed the wide space of the auditorium to where Adelaide was.
“Hi,” Demi kept some distance between them as the person Adelaide had been speaking with made their exit from the conversation. “For the record I’m not going to ask you how you’re doing, because I’m pretty damn sure I know the answer to that already.” She added, getting the obvious out of the way. So many people that even had made the imprisoned Hellhounds the topic of conversation that Demi was slightly worn out by it, and although she didn’t know Adelaide well, she could almost guess just exactly how the redhead felt about all of it.
