Avery & Bea
"Brilliant," Avery replied, sounding almost enthusiastic. "Uncharted territory is much more fun with someone else," This was a partly true statement, usually Avery enjoyed exploring alone but even she knew going too far away from the group alone was ill-advised. That and Avery enjoyed Bea's company.
Even years later Avery found the silence and stillness of abandon streets oddly unnerving. It still felt as if there should be people about, live ones with errands to run or places to be. Out here past the wasteland of Austin it seemed more pronounced. Avery took a moment to let the thought pass through her mind before catching up with Bea. "No, never," she answered with a shake of her head. "I didn't spent much time in Texas," she added, kicking a rock along as they walked. "Been to Dallas once or twice."
Bea's question was met with a momentary silence as Avery tried to see cute and quaint in the lonely, forgotten buildings. "I suppose so," she said after a moment. "Compared to Austin it's cute as a button."
