Avery watched as the other woman fumbled with her note book and decided right then that she liked her. Anyone who looked so embarrassed couldn't be all that bad and she'd been on the hunt for a new friend. Not that Avery was running out of people to visit, but it was nice to meet new people. Especially ones as genuine as this one.
"Honest mistake," Avery replied after a few moments, her icy tone gone. "My name is James, but you can call me Cooper," she added, holding out her hand. "Or JC or Coop, anything really."
It took a few moments for Avery to decide to take the seat but eventually sat down with her legs crossed, shifted toward the kind stranger. "Since I was a child," she answered, flipping the book open from the first page. "It keeps my hands busy." Truthfully, Avery's drawings had always been a way to connect with the world. It made her feel closer to society without actually having to join it.
"How about you? Do you know how to draw? Sing, perhaps? I'm a shit singer."
