Laughing was more or less a thing of the past. Since Jonah and Hadley had gone missing Avery had done it exactly three times and two of those times had been in Austin. Smiling came easier if still infrequently, she could definitely do it though. Sometimes it was even genuine and not just to placate. Laughing though? Laughing wasn't apart of her life any more and she doubted it would be again. She'd made peace with the emptiness inside her and lived with it like an old friend, she just never inspected it.
Avery envied those that could laugh though, she remembered how good it felt and she missed it every now and then. When Isaac laughed she smiled, the action reflexive and Avery ignored how easy smiles came around Isaac. "I've been once or twice," she offered, looking up at the building. It was still nice inside, most important items had been taken but all the pretty and delicate things had been left behind. They just weren't useful at the end of the world. "Nice pictures."
Like a little kid she followed behind Isaac, letting him lead the way "Where are my animal crackers?" She asked as they made their way into the mansion. "I was promised animal crackers," The inside of the mansion was dusty, displaced in certain places but more or less untouched. No one needed anything in here, it didn't offer much in terms of protection or provisions so it was effectively useless. Unless you were in the mood to destroy expensive things. "Reneging on the deal now will only create a distrust, Isaiah."
