Only recently, when Demi crash landed into his life, had Isaac begun to deal with losing Callie and his kids. He was still only at the tip of the iceberg when it came to it all but the man in front of Avery was already drastically different than the one she'd first met those months ago. His heart was still heavy with loss but somehow he was finding it in himself to make room for someone else and somehow each day seemed a little easier than the one before.
He let out a laugh as the cane landed in front of him and made a show of holding the small of his back when he bent down to pick it up. "Gee, Avery, you shouldn't have," he said with a laugh then stood back upright, using the cane to do so. "Might not need it for walking but looks like it could have a good weight behind it," he continued, giving it a test swing.
"I've never been in here before but I bet there's all kinds of unnecessarily fancy shit in there to bust. Let's go," he said, then opened the gate for them before leading the way inside. His lunch break would only last so long and he didn't want to waste the entire time just standing out in front.
