I don't think anyone's missed how I feel about the man who will be inaugurated tomorrow into a position that he isn't qualified to fill. In case you haven't, here's one more hint:
An open letter to the fat, arrogant, anti-charismatic, national embarrassment known as President Donald Trump.
[It's a video post. Erik's sitting on a stool, holding his guitar. It takes him a second to stop smiling at the person holding the phone, but once he's realized they've started recording, he begins.]
"Hey, guys, there's a reason I'm not the one front and center on stage, or the one writing the songs. I'm not really writing this one, either. You've heard of Hamilton, right? If you haven't, finish this, then go listen to the soundtrack and the mixtape. And then go thank Lin-Manuel Miranda for writing something awesome that's just as true now as it was in 1797. With a few changes.
An open letter to the fat, arrogant, anti-charismatic, national embarrassment known as President Donald Trump."
[What comes next is Erik's parody of 'An Open Letter', from the Hamilton Mixtape, with lyrics tailored to insult Donald Trump as thoroughly as the original insulted John Adams. In particular focus is Trump's offensive Twitter habit, but he also hits skipped security briefings, conflicts of interest with businesses, and the lies and backtracking... but there isn't enough space in two verses to cover everything. He ends it particularly enthusiastically:]
"I don't care if I kill my career with this letter, I'm confining you to one term.
Sit down, Don, you fat motherfucker!"
[There's no hint of a smile between the last line and the end of the video. Erik doesn't find this funny at all. He means it.]
