Re: The Cliffs
Rachel didn't know what else to do besides run. She'd barely escaped the Cornucopia, still reeling from the experience of being mortally wounded and... not dying. She hadn't been thinking clearly at the time, hadn't realized that the little bit of mutation she'd accidentally absorbed from Frankie might actually make a difference here. When that wound closed up, Rachel had snapped back to reality pretty fast.
There was no telling how long that particular power would last, considering how little she'd absorbed. Probably not long enough that if someone was successful in killing her again, that she'd bounce back a second time. She'd taken off for the woods, having been able to grab nothing from the Cornucopia, and she hadn't stopped running for a long time. When she finally stopped to catch her breath, and allow herself to cry, she was huddled in a bit of brush a few yards from the open cliff side.
She was shaking, scared and alone, and part of her wished it would just be over already. Nate had given her his powers, but she couldn't help thinking he'd done it for nothing. She was still going to die in here, and he'd died already. Rachel couldn't get the images of his body blown apart out of her head and she cried for a long time, until she couldn't anymore. Then she was running again, towards the opening in the treeline that led out to the surface of a large cliff.
Her vision was still blurred from tears, so she didn't see the other girl in time to stop. Rachel crashed right into her as Tali whirled around, both of them collapsing to the hard ground and Rachel immediately rolled off her and struggled to get back to her feet. Her first instinct was to apologize, but she bit it back. There wasn't room for 'sorry' in the games. Instead, she practically hissed, grabbing a rock on her way up and preparing to use Nate's powers if the tribute attacked. "Don't come near me. I'm warning you."
