Hi.
Austin. Aus. Adam. AC. Cole. Hey you with the hair. Let’s be real, I’ll answer to anything.

... BAYBAY.

Great beard. Adorable dimples. Baby blue eyes. Suspiciously white teeth. Oh, and I wrestle occasionally.

Just my standard introduction. Hit me with your best, even if I know you.

looks like your standard introduction has awed everyone into slack-jawed silence. that or the suspiciously white teeth. can't say i'd be surprised to find out this is a frequent occurrence.

Some blame the dimples or the eyes too. I personally think it's the blinding smile. And you are...? 😝

i definitely feel like smiles are overlooked in that trifecta. eyes might be windows to the soul or however the saying goes, but smiles? instant personality preview.

i'm the best kind of trouble.

Oh yeah? What's my blurb say?

That's some confidence you have there. The very best kind? I always seem to find myself in trouble.

knows a good time when he sees one - and if there's not one in sight, creates one. straight forward but generally laid back unless confronted with dorks in jorts. possible obsession with whitening strips.

what can i say? i know my capabilities. grade a, premium choice trouble. tsk, how do you expect to be a trouble connoisseur if you can't spot quality when it's in front of you?

Hahaha, you're good. I don't know if I'd call you the best just yet, but you sure can read a smile. I was starting to get a bit bored before you showed up.

I didn't say I was a connoisseur, but I think even having an interest in the subject, I can tell you're top of the class in just a few exchanges. What's your favorite type to get into?

haven't you heard? smiles are kind of my thing, i should damn well know a little something about them. but i'm happy to hear that my late(ish) night rambles are no longer entertaining to just a crowded mind of one.

that's a good question. i'd have to say the kind that snowballs into flying by the seat of my pants, a few lost days and a minimum of fifty voicemails questioning my whereabouts.

That's one of those rumblings that must have missed my page. When you say crowded mind, it sounds like there's more than just one in there.

Ahh, so you're an off the grid, questionable decisions, show up days later looking tired but satisfied kind of woman? I had you all wrong. Although if anyone was going to rival me for shiny smile and blue eyes, it'd have to be you.

ha! sometimes it seems like it, but it's just a solo woman with a lot of big and occasionally wacky thoughts.

wild streaks never die, they go dormant from being tucked away. what did you have me pegged as? luckily i enjoy proving people wrong even more than being competitive, so i'll allow you to keep the crown. for now.

Send through your wackiest. Entertain a crowd of two.

I figured you'd be the type who wouldn't let her phone get further than a couple of inches from her hand at any one time. The hold that thought, this might be an important email, yes I'm listening, but you never told me that, kind. I've met plenty of that kind. The kind who would be willing to go off the radar for an extended period of time is rare.

we'll have to secure a private venue if you want that authentic secret club appeal.

it's not an unfair assessment, just an unfinished one. personally i think the satisfaction that comes from shedding all the bull which that level of connection entails is one of the best feelings around. and giving people something to talk about is always a bonus.

Champagne room? How forward of you.

Ohh, so you like to be on someones mind, on others lips? You like giving the masses something to whisper about when you walk in the room? To look at with thinly veiled judgement and deeply hidden envy? To smile to your face and think they're clever when they're churning the rumor mill behind your back. You're an interesting case, McSteph.

and making no apologies for it. i believe the saying it takes one to know one is appropriate here.

the rumor mill will always churn, judgment and whispers are never going to be a thing of the past. adapt to the environment, control the narrative; that's where the real power lies. i like to think interesting cases are worthy of more than a cursory study.

Private stage, shiny pole, leather couches. What's your music of choice? What about your drink?

You're absolutely right. Controlling the narrative is a special kind of power. Convincing those around you that they're forming their own opinion when they're forming the opinion that you're creating, is something very few can actually pull off. I have a feeling you were kind of raised to manipulate people in droves though.

now now, no early preview of the set list i'm afraid. a good whiskey might buy you some brownie points though.

it's one of many concepts i was introduced to early on. like any useful tool, it has its side benefits. determining who is and isn't worthy of your time and trust. the people who are happy to take what they're fed without thinking for themselves. the ones who think the world only comes in black and white and never want to see deeper to the shades of gray. the ones who are only interested in having some inside scoop they can divulge to their friends to seem important. it wasn't an entirely bad way to be raised.

Not even a preview? Some sugar poured on someone. You? Me? And what are we talking, some blue label? Irish? Scotch?

How quickly are you able to determine this? And are you ever wrong with your first impressions? Someone make you take a deeper look because perhaps on the surface they fed you a facade that you weren’t taking the time to see through?

sugar gets poured on everyone in my champagne room. it's the law of the land. here's a fun game: surprise me.

you are inquisitive. it's a pretty quick process generally, but lacking a good reason to immediately shut it down, i prefer to give things a chance to settle since we all have our off days and shit that we pull. there's a handful of times i can admit to being wrong, so realistically whatever number that equals out to should probably be doubled. as for taking a deeper look? it happens more often than you might think for varying reasons but unless warning bells are going off i'll let them keep the facade. best to handle double edged swords carefully.

Like Oprah. You get some sugar. And you get some sugar. Everyone gets some suuuuggggaaaaaar!

While you’re answering my questions, I’m going to keep asking. How else do I learn anything? That’s interesting, a lot of people done like to admit that their instinct isn’t right. So what do you do if the warning bells are going off? Confront or back off? What intrigues you about someone?

then some trouble maker gets the bright idea to set the fire alarm off and turn the stage into a sugary sweet slip n slide. wouldn't be the worst night ever.

i think the inability to own up to your mistakes is a real disservice to yourself at worst and sad at best. absolutely call it out, the method of which changes case by case but the bells never get ignored. that's a recipe for disaster. the way they handle themselves. their flaws, the things that they're reluctant to show but maybe aren't as good at hiding as they might think. on occasion blindingly white smiles have been known to do the trick.

Sounds like the best. Depending on who the company is, of course. Who doesn’t like something wet and sweet to slide right into?

Who can resist looking deeper than a blindingly white smile? I find it fascinating that you are drawn to what you can see that others think you can’t. That’s a whole new layer. Flaws are always interesting though, and ones willingness to admit they have them, even to be aware of them, is kinda sexy. We all think we’re pretty special. It’s knowing the areas of improvement, or even the areas to own, that’s where the real attraction lies.

obviously they'd have to be a fan of snowballing chaos. that was almost as slick as a stage drenched in sugar water. i'll let you have this win, you with the hair.

dare i ask what makes it so fascinating? the fun in layers is peeling them away. i find the subjectivity found in flaws is the most interesting. why someone's considering x, y, and z as flaws, what it tells us about them, what our take on it tells us about ourselves. all out of questions? color me surprised.

I’ll take any win I can get from the best kind of trouble. Walk a bit taller, smile a bit wider, flick my hair a bit more exaggeratedly.

If you ask a million people what they’re drawn to, I would think that would be said in one case. You. Considered answers and honesty that shows intellect are enough to keep me captivated until all hours of the morning. I didn’t need to ask another question. Once the conversation gets flowing, the answers are revealed without the direction. Of course, as I say this, another question arises. What’s your most obvious flaw?

[info]mcsteph

is it even possible to exaggerate it more? i'd like to see that.

the all night, proverbial piles of paperwork lifestyle really lends itself to considering the big questions, otherwise i suppose there'd be a chance i'd have fluffier answers on tap. some people would probably prefer it that way but i rarely have a reason to lie and fluffy is only attractive on animals. i don't always know when to quit, which should really be stated as i don't always quit even when i know i should, because knowing and doing are on distinctly different levels.

Oh yeah. When it’s silky smooth and freshly cleaned and dried. That’s a fluffy that’s very cute and not an animal.

So what are the reasons that you do have to lie? Doesn’t lie, doesn’t quit even if you know when you should. What a puzzle coming together you are. You seem poised and confident, so I also have to ask, what’s one thing that throws you off kilter? What makes you fumble your words and get cotton mouthed?

so what i'm hearing is that i can see this majesty by hanging around long enough and in the right places backstage. also you definitely don't turn into a cat when someone touches it.

why does anyone lie? loyalty, love, a defense mechanism of preservation for others and self preservation. three of those i consider good reason, the fourth is the basis for quite a few lies whether we want to see it or not; for me it's rarely used and doesn't fall under the "good reason" umbrella yet needs to be acknowledged for the answer to be truthful. are you seeing a picture yet or are you still flipping all of the pieces upright? when someone unexpectedly sees through a facade i'm throwing. the irony isn't lost on me.
