"There's not one," Bas commented with a small grimace on his face. The bird was cute but his foot hadn't appreciated the heel to the toe. The one time he didn't wear steel toe boots and this is what he got. He'd been visiting a mate from the service that morning. The bloke lived in the neighbourhood but the influx of people had made it difficult for Bas to find an adequate apparition point to leave from.
He'd heard murmurs of a circus, but mostly he just sighed and continued the search for somewhere uninhabited and out of view to escape back to. Cooper was keeping at Bas' side only because of the leash spell that was on him. An actual leash likely would have clotheslined several people by now so the spell really had been a good idea. Especially with a scenthound who wanted to chase after every interesting smell he came across. Not to mention the little kids who wanted to pet him before getting dragged off by their parents. Cooper was all for being petted and would happily trot off to wherever the petting was happening. Unlike bas, though, Cooper was doing loads better at not getting stepped on, or elbowed or generally trod upon.
