Mathwall Coverage Continues. The Wall is Down. What Next?
By Rita Skeeter
Mathwall, London (Prophet News Services)--The Ministry finally brought an end to the Mathwall Crisis at dawn Friday, six days after a magical wall severed a London neighborhood from the rest of the world. Teams from the Department of Regulation of Magical Creatures and Unexplained Phenomena, the Department of Mysteries, the Obliviator Division and the Muggle-Worthy Excuses Committee were all on hand to deal with the wall and the emerging survivors, Wizarding and Muggle.
Once the wall was down and the majority of the inhabitants were isolated, Ministry employees assisted the survivors and refugees. The Obliviator Division reported successful Obliviation of all of the Muggles who were trapped in Mathwall by noon on Friday.
The Minister of Magic will be speaking to the Wizengamot in the near future to summarise the crisis and discuss what steps will be taken to prevent any further occurrences of this kind. No date has been set yet for this speech and it is expected that the Minister will require more information from both Mysteries and the Regulators before developing further plans.
When contacted for a statement, a spokesman for the Regulators said, "Though the wall is down, the Mathwall incident is still under heavy investigation. The Department of Regulation of Magical Creatures and Unexplained Phenomena is not only digging deeper to understand the source of the wall and magics within, but to also get to the bottom of events that occurred inside. Many have been left injured or worse after riots and panicked actions inside. Atrocities were committed by both muggle and wizard alike, and we will be sure that justice is served. We hope that everyone injured in the event will make a speedy recovery, and are working hard to bring closure to hose families who have lost loved ones."
The Department of Mysteries had no comment at this time.
