That was promising, then--that perhaps Malcolm would grow into it. He was no Harry Potter, of course, but then he was, wasn't he? After all, Harry Potter was just as human as Malcolm, Voldemort or not.
"Thank you." Malcolm spoke quietly. "I needed to know. I'm not sure why, but I just... did." He raised his eyes from the floor where they met Harry's. "It makes things different somehow."
There was a silence as he took the man in front of him in. It was not the man he would have imagined. Somehow, when he was younger, Harry had seemed... just... stronger.
"I think they expect me to take Trimble's place." Malcolm finally offered. "And after this week, I realized how high the stakes could potentially become at any given moment." He paused again. "Do you learn how to ignore the mistakes?"
