"Hope it doesn't take too long," she added more calmly, her eyes flicking to the rear view window again to check on him. "He needs his family." She bit her lip a bit before adding shyly, "I went grocery shopping for you - there's food there, enough for the both of you. And, I know you can take care of yourself... I just, yknow," she shrugged. "Thought you'd rather sleep when you got out." I did it to reassure myself that you would get out. "And Bingo needed dog food."
