Lola's owl arrives in the morning, over breakfast. It carries a small wrapped parcel and a note on perfumed stationery.
Dear Lila,
Your uncle and I spotted this on our holiday to New Zealand, and it seemed something you ought to have. It's made from the scales of an Antipodean Opaleye, which is the best known native dragon species of that region. Have you seen photographs of the beasts? I suppose they may have taught you at Hogwarts some things about the foreign dragon breeds -- if not, do keep an eye on the journals this week. Once I have developed my photographs, I will be pasting some in for all to see. We did, in fact, visit a reserve and have a close encounter with one of the dragons. Perhaps a bit closer than Cosmo would have preferred. The spoils were well worth the trouble.
I hope that you are enjoying being back at school after the time off from classes. My final years there was very exciting ones indeed. If you see Corbin getting into any trouble with those little friends of his, you have my permission to use a well-aimed stinging hex.
