Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:1998-january, character: gwendolyn montgomery, character: pansy parkinson

Who: Pansy and Gwen
What: Besties hanging out and planning magazines and things.
Where: The Slytherin Common room.
When: Just following this exchange.
Rating: PG. Ish. Probably.
Status: In Progress.

The journal exchange had been pointedly in reaction to Rita Skeeter's article slandering a friend, and a little silly and a lot pie-in-the-sky, but the idea of writing with Gwendolyn was an attractive one to Pansy. Why shouldn't they, after all? They were intelligent young women with a lot to say, and it wasn't as if any of their opinions or thoughts were any more daft than rantings about a Quidditcher's supposed drunken indiscretions.

That in mind, Pansy went in search of her blonde friend. The Slytherin dungeons were a safe place to look, and, journal tucked under her arm, she entered the dormitory like a young woman on a mission. At least Gwen was never hard to spot.

"You," she greeted, smiling at the other girl, "are a genius. I've decided. Slytherin Sirens it is."

Gwendolyn hadn't really taken much of the journal entry seriously herself, after all she'd never been much of a girl for business and the idea of starting her own had never actually occurred to her. Still, it had actually been rather funny to think of creating one of their own, if nothing else because even if she did agree with Skeeter a lot, she and Pansy were rather opinionated on their own.

Lying on her stomach on her bed, Gwendolyn had her journal splayed out in front of her and was glancing through it when Pansy walked into the room. The smile quickly evolved to a grin as Pansy spoke.

"I thought it suited us ever so well." Gwen said as she shifted, sliding across her covers to sit up on her bed, crossing her legs beneath her. "Sexy and dangerous. Besides who would ever believe that any other house could possibly impart the sort of wisdom we could."

Pansy put her journal down on her own bed before going to sit cross-legged on Gwen's. "Only fools, of course," she said cheerfully, smirking at her friend. "Fools and mudblood-lovers, which are practically the same thing."

Scooting back just a little to make certain that her friend had enough space, Gwen smiled at Pansy sat down on her bed. "Oh, I don't know, darling." She bit her lip, smiling a little. "I think mudblood lovers might be a bit worse." Gwen added, pleased they were alone "At least fools usually know they're fools."

"I'd imagine mudblood lovers usually know they're that, as well," Pansy pointed out, one eyebrow arching slightly. "But then again, I suppose they call it something different, don't they? Which just goes to show that they're fools."

"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" Gwendolyn said, a smile twitching on her lips, but as Pansy continued she nodded. That was exactly it. "I'm sure they think they're terribly clever." Laughing, she shook her head. "Anyway let's talk about nicer topics, I hate having to think about idiots, its so boring."

"You're perfectly right, as usual," Pansy said, smiling and leaning back onto her elbows. "What shall we talk about instead? I'd ask if you've heard any good gossip lately, but you would already have shared it, yes?"

"Of course, darling." Gwendolyn agreed. "There's no point in keeping things from you anyway, you'll just end up finding out and Salazar knows I wouldn't want you upset at me." Gwen added winking at her friend. "I think we should talk about something nice, like the next party or Hogsmeade or something whilst I get the polish?" She paused. "Or we could talk about what t write about."
