Who: Kiki And Bina.
What: Kiki has exciting news and wants to share!
Where: Bina's flat.
When: Tuesday 14/7 when Bina gets home from work.
Rating: Low
Status: GDoc
She had a job! She had a job! She had a job! It was exciting news, and the second Kiki processes the contents of the letter she got from the Prophet, the tiny blonde went flying upstairs to pound on her cousin's door and tell her.
Except no one was in. No-one was in for EIGHT hours after she received the good news! It wasn't fair!
As soon as Kiki heard the noises of someone moving upstairs, she ran to Bina's door, pounding on the wood as if she were being chased.
---
Bina hadn't even sat down when the pounding started. The wards were silent which meant it was one of a short list of people. She opened the door, still dressed for work and raised an eyebrow.
"Kiki? What is it, love? Are you all right?" Her wand was in her hand and at the ready, wondering what had happened.
--
Had she been thinking clearly, maybe she would have realised that the pounding would maybe sound more ominous than joyful. There was no room for clear thinking though.
"I got the job!" She screamed, throwing her arms around Bina and bouncing on the spot. "I will be an official working Prophet employee! Aaaaah!"
---
"Kiki! That's fabulous!" She swung her younger cousin around. "Circe's tits, that's amazing! Congratulations!"
She set Kiki down only to grab her hand and drag her towards the living room. "This calls for celebration. Zinny! Champagne and chocolate cake! Right away!"
----
Kiki let out a very girly eep at being swung around, but was soon giggling and happy to be dragged. “It’s only a junior position, but it’s a position, and Mr Mulciber said that when I pass all the junior trials I might get to write. Ok, so he said something about mastering skills, not passing trials, but you know what I mean!” The grin on her face wouldn’t quit. “It is so worthy of drinking champagne and eating chocolate cake though! I got a job! I’m levelling up on being an adult!”
---
Cambina couldn't help but chuckle as she threw an arm around Kiki and pulled her closed for another hug as she led her to the living room and onto the comfortable sofa. "Let me take my boots off and get settled while you tell me all about it.
Combat boots were standard work attire for Bina and it took her almost no time at all to get them and her jacket off before resettling herself on the couch in cargo pants and a sleeveless shirt. Zinny appeared with two champagne glasses and Bina took one and passed the other to Kiki.
"Congrats Kiks! Here's to you and the new job. I know you're going to rock it!"
-----
The champagne was gratefully received, although amused by the fact Bina kept champagne on hand. “To things hopefully starting to sort themselves out!” She toasted before taking a sip.
“You realise I’ve been waiting 8 hours to tell you this, right? I’m glad there is no-one else on this floor to hear me shouting to an empty flat earlier.” Kiki laughed. “How was work anyway? Is alcohol needed anyway?”
---
Bina laughed and gave her cousin a smile. "I'm surprised you didn't just show up at the Ministry and start banging down the door of the DMLE. Although there's no champagne at the office." Despite how often work tended to make her want to drink.
"I've no idea how you survived those eight hours! It must have been torture," Bina teased affectionately. "Work was work. Lots of cases, fewer leads. Have to be in it for the long haul, though."
------
“I wish I could tell you I chose not to just incase some of you got wand happy and hexed me.” She laughed, and then laughed harder as her wording processed. “I really need a better phrase than wand happy, it just makes me think of those jokes about ‘is that a wand in your pocket or are you just happy to see me’, whatever, hex-happy. Anyway, I just didn’t think about disrupting your work, which is sort of sad. I am losing my chaos factor.”
Drinking, she listened to Bina’s short summary of her day. “Doesn’t that get frustrating? I don’t think I could handle that.”
---
"But the reason we like that word is because it sounds dirty," Cambina said with a smirk. "Although Aurors aren't usually the type to be happy to see you in that sort of way. That's more a quidditcher sort of thing."
The house elf appeared with chocolate cake and plates and Bina cut a slice for each of them. "Incredibly frustrating. Which is why I've been considering a career change."
----
"Cambina Bulstrode!" Kiki mock scolded with a gasp. "Are you perpetuating harmful stereotypes?" A giggle breaking in to ruin any even slight semblance of seriousness. "10/10 for your approval of juvenile wand jokes though. It balances out the champagne."
Speaking of things to balance the champagne... The tiny blonde wasted no time in digging into her piece of cake, pausing only to reply to Bina's semi-news. "Where are you thinking of working next?"
---
Cambina laughed. "Stereotypes stem from truths. And believe me, I have experience with quidditchers. Juvenile and refined all in one - that's me."
She propped her legs up on the sofa and dug into the cake. "No idea. Broom testing, cursebreaking, anything that will satisfy my need for an adrenaline rush."
---
That's why she loved her big cousin. "I've obviously not spent enough time around quidditchers recently. I'll have to manipulate dad into manipulating some VIP tickets to a game with hot players out of someone. That or just stick with you apparently." Merlin knows Bina knew where to find hot men it seemed.
"Curse breaking could be fun, but doesn't that mean basically living in Egypt or something? I veto that. England jobs only."
---
"Well, I'll see if I can help you out with that. Not sure about World Cup tickets, but I can probably get you tickets to the regular league games," Bina said with a smirk.
"Not necessarily. There is cursebreaking work to do here. I'm just exploring my options." Honestly, Bina didn't even need to work, but she couldn't imagine sitting at home and doing nothing.
----
"Got yourself enough quidditch players on the bedroom roster?" Coming from someone else, it might have sounded a little mean, but Kiki was only teasing and was counting on Bina taking it the right way.
Appeased by the assurance her cousin wasn't about to run off to Egypt next week, she took another bite of cake and nodded happily. "Whatever keeps you happy... And maybe means next time I have good news I don't have to wait so long." All about the Kikster!
---
Cambina chuckled. "Enough. And I'm friends with Gwenog Jones and her boss in magical games," she explained, licking the chocolate off her fork. "So quidditch tickets are usually easily accessible. Also, I might be working security for the world cup, so we'll see."
---
“Zoe has already promised me free tickets if she gets into a team after the tryouts this year, so maybe I can get my own for at least one team, and just need you to use your connections for the rest.” Kiki laughed. “That’s if my new job leaves me enough time to be going to quidditch games. My new job. I love saying that! Quick, give me more cake and champagne to stop me just repeating it.”
---
"Anything you want, love," BIna said with a grin, refilling Kiki's cup. Maybe she could get used to her little cousin living downstairs.
