1998 Quidditch World Cup

If, like me, you enjoy ridiculous quidditch statistics and spreadsheets, I invite you to take a look HERE, where I have compiled information regarding the 1998 QWC.

If, however, you are not a crazy person, here's what you need to know:
• January 1996-December 1997 - Teams from 64 countries play qualifying matches throughout the world. Teams are ranked by a point system, with the top 16 teams advancing to the 1998 Cup.

• January-May 1998 - All Cup rounds are straight knockouts, with winners advancing and losers going home. Round 1 takes 16 teams down to 8.

• June 1998 - Round 2 takes 8 teams down to 4.

• July 1998 - Round 3 takes 4 teams down to 2, who will then play in the QWC Final in August.

• July 4, 1998 - Reigning QWC Champion Ireland defeats England, 300-230, to advance to the QWC Final and defend their title.

• July 18, 1998 - Ethiopia and Senegal will play to determine who faces off against Ireland next month.
There is a score for the Ethiopia/Senegal match in the doc linked above, but don't post about the results of Ethiopia/Senegal until after MG McGonagall makes his official announcement this weekend. (You're welcome to post about England/Ireland, though!)

Questions? Just ask! ♥

Florrie has gone to ALL THE THINGS with MG. Just saying. Hopefully we dragged Aunt Minerva out for Scotland matches.
