When did you arrive? What did you eat and drink? Who did you talk to or pretend doesn't exist?

Narcissa is of course there well ahead of time to speak with the shop owner while some of the Malfoy house elves set up. By the time people start to arrive, the shop owner has left and all but one of the house elves have returned to Malfoy Manor.

She's sitting in a location that lets her see people approach the shop through the windows, and sips on a glass of wine while she enjoys one of the pears. She will happily greet just about everyone as they arrive.

Cambina arrived a few minutes early and would have greeted Narcissa warmly. She would have helped herself to tea and fruit. (No wine since she's going to work after that. She seemed to be in a good mood and would mention to Narcissa that she has some younger friends who might be Interested in joining WICCA.

She would be pleasant to everyone.

Bela arrives only a little ahead of time this month, and not as ridiculously happy as last month, intact she looks a little tired. However she is still pleasant and talks to everyone.

Marcelia is early and greets people (obviously some get greeted more warmly), she has some parchment files with her but other than that looks exactly as proper and put together as she does for all these meetings.

Andromeda arrived just this side of late, as she was trying to slip in without being obvious about it. She had some soup and a glass of wine and talked to the non-purist contingent for the most part. She didn't actually approach Narcissa- this time- but she did make a point of making eye contact with her and smiling at least once during the evening.

Vendor
[info]palepanache
2015-07-09 09:46 pm UTC (link)
Dulcinea Dodge provided three options for vendors to provide food for the DMLE.

The quote from Catering Charms is the most expensive, but provides, I think, the best combination of security and variety. The quote from The Tea Witch's Trolley is the least expensive, but they offer the smallest variety of food items as well. And the quote from Hogsmeade Tea and Treats is quite competitive, but I've toured their facilities and I think they're borderline on the security, which is important to Mr Shacklebolt.

Which vendor do you prefer we use? We will be implementing this project next week, if the vendor is available to start that soon, and as soon as they are available if they are not.

Narcissa agrees that Catering Charms provides the best combination of security and variety.

Since they are the most expensive, it will be important to have a fundraiser in the fall to support this project.

It also might be worth looking into an every-other-day service instead of an every day service, so that it can last longer, as it seems no progress is being made on any of the cases that have the DMLE working overtime. (Or at least, not on the case that Narcissa is publicly concerned about.) Or perhaps we start with every day, but keep an every other day service option in mind should funds start to run low.

If security is a concern, Bina would say that Hogsmeade Tea and Treats is out of the running. And would say that even if WICCA only provided 3-5 meals a week, it would still be a great help to the department.

Scholarship Fundraising
[info]palepanache

We have two scholarships, the Dirk Cresswell Memorial Scholarship, which benefits Muggle-born children regardless of their family's financial status, and the Phyllida Spore Educational Fund, which benefits Wizarding families with low incomes.

We'll be looking to raise money for them in the first two quarters of next year. Suggestions on what events to host are appreciated.

In addition to our two ongoing scholarships, we host other events to raise money for various causes. What are some other causes we could support with our upcoming events?

WADA and St. Mungo's were both mentioned last month, but I'd like to get a concrete list.

Bela agrees that both of these seem like good causes, and puts forward that the music benefit she mentioned before would work particularly well for a WADA fundraising event.

Holiday Ball
[info]palepanache
2015-07-09 09:51 pm UTC (link)
What should the theme of this year's Holiday Ball be?

What kind of extra stuff could we do with the Holiday Ball? We will likely support one of the charities that we picked in our last agenda item, but this event has the opportunity to do a little more.

Holiday Ball
[info]palepanache
2015-07-09 10:04 pm UTC (link)
Narcissa suggests using the ball to provide presents for those less fortunate families who may not be able to provide much for their children during the holiday season.

Another idea would be to have a separate event for children and families. It could be during the day at the same location of the holiday ball so that many of the same resources could be used and it wouldn't be much extra expense to put on.

For the main ball, WICCA had a major fundraising figure last year in Celestina Warbeck. This year we might mix it up some and do something different if we don't have an immediately obvious celebrity to organise the event around, especially since there will be a fall concert.

It would be beneficial if we were to host an event during the third quarter that is open to the general public.

A concert of some sort was suggested on the journals. Can we refine that idea further or does anyone have other ideas?
