Kettle & Cup has been rented out to WICCA for the evening. Refreshments are set up on the main counter--tea, lemonade, pumpkin juice, wine, sandwiches, bruchetta, caprese, cheese, & fruit.

Agenda items are as follows:

  1. The Cocktail party for graduating Hogwarts students.
  2. Providing food for the DMLE while they are working overtime. Dulcinea Dodge should have an update.
  3. Future charitable endeavors. It is time to think about what projects we may want to implement this autumn.
  4. Any additional business

When do you arrive? Who do you talk to before the meeting starts?

Bela arrives a little early and looking more confident and happy than she did at the last meeting. She makes an effort to at least say hello to everybody.

Narcissa welcomes Bella and encourages her to share her opinions during the meeting. WICCA wants the input of young witches.

Warm greetings and smiles back, and asking how things/the family are. She says they'll have to have tea to catch up.

Chloe arrives exactly on time from Hogwarts. She doesn't really have time to mingle, but she does greet everyone. At this time of year, being able to attend is a miracle.

Smiles and greeting back for Chloe, and a question after how the House is faring. The children all sound quite stressed.

Claire is a few minutes later, but nothing too terribly notable. If asked, she'll say something wry about the Prophecies needing extra polishing. She greets a few people, including Narcissa, as unobtrusively as possible.

Narcissa greets her unobtrusively in return, and makes a mental note to contact her husband about certain things.

Cocktail Party

Per Dulcinea's poll of the graduating students, this will be on 23 June from 5-9 PM. The Clarinda Avery Macmillan Events Centre at WADA has been reserved for the occasion. (Though a smaller room than they used for casino night.

We need volunteers to host and to mentor the girls who show an interest.

Dulci will volunteer, since she's been deeply involved all along. She's also expecting to end up mentoring at least one of the girls.

Marcelia is up for this, it's good to show the girls a variety of possible careers and many of the younger generation do seem to have trouble envisioning their futures.

Dulci has touched base with Kingsley Shacklebolt and they've worked out agreeable security precautions and volunteer criteria. She also has three vendors who will prepare the meals under the security Kingsley has requested, and bids for each one.

There are parchments to pass around with comments on each of these and Dulci would like input from the women before they make a final selection. She understands people will need time to read it so she'll ward on Tuesday. If they pick by Friday next, they'll be able to start service by 1 July, which is Dulci's goal.

Dulci has also had an interview with William Rosier of the Prophet, who is writing a puff piece on this effort. Look for that in the next week or so. If there's anything in particular we want in that piece beyond the usual, we need to get in touch with him.

We also need to consider fundraising for this effort--not the holiday ball, but something smaller in the fall.

Narcissa thanks Dulcinea for her input. She agrees that they need to have something in the summer or autumn to fund this, particularly as it looks to be (unfortunately) long-term.

She is open to suggestions as to what kind of event. Something that ties in with the DMLE would be ideal, though she understands they are busy.

What shall we focus our attention on next? We need to start planning our holiday ball and determine what those funds will be earmarked for. We need top think about future funding for both scholarships. We need to come up with other plans.

In recent years we've targeted donations and efforts toward Hogwarts. Last year we did some work toward St Mungo's but it hasn't been a major focus. We haven't done anything for WADA in a while.

As always we should look at investing some of our proceeds for a good return. Mrs Selwyn should be a help with this.

Marcelia says it's a fine, and wise, idea. She'd be happy to handle that account personally but they'd need to establish if it'd be the general WICCA coffers or accounts for each project (eg. setting up an account for the DMLE project and investing parts of it for returns and some longevity to the project.)

Either option is of course, more than manageable, it's just a matter of logistics.

The general WICCA coffers are of course now at Narcissa's discretion to handle, but Dulci would like to suggest daily operating funds be segregated from the longer-term endowments and funds. They're the ones that Mrs Selwyn should be in the best position to invest because of the longer-run returns, as Dulci understands it.

They are, and that's all quite doable. They can separate it out but keep it all under the umbrella of the WICCA account, add in sub divisions as needed and such. Keeps the organization going on its own money at the very least.

Narcissa agrees. The funds for day-to-day expenses and short-term projects should be readily accessible, but long-term project funds should be invested, perhaps in annuities or the like so there would be scheduled payouts to cover what is needed at any given time.

Marcelia says she can bring an outline next time of how she plans to handle the accounts in general terms but she'll need to see what she has to work with, documents and all of course.
