Having managed to all but banish the younger years from the common room, and with Draco being occupied elsewhere, Gwendolyn had gotten started right away with decorating the common room. With help from Pansy and some of the other Slytherins, they managed to get the place looking perfect. A dragon theme would have been quite obvious, not to mention one that she'd done for Draco in the past, so Gwen had opted instead to go with 'fire' in general though coloured the various flames an eerie green. The theme had started with the decorations and bled into the snacks, with various smoked canapes and green coloured smoking drinks. That hadn't stopped her from tying it back with a specially ordered cake, but as far as Gwen was concerned, it was some of her very best work.

Pleased by the help from her friends, Gwendolyn nevertheless did her best to order them about a bit, hoping to get everything perfect for the evening. As the time neared when Draco was to arrive, Gwendolyn did a final check of the decorations, the snacks, drinks before lowering the lights and having everyone hide. He might be expecting it, and it might be a bit silly to just out and scream surprise, but there were some traditions that could be quite fun.

Wand out, teeth biting lightly down on her lower lip as she concentrated, Gwendolyn slowly lifted it as she straightened the shimmering green garlands, so much classier than bunting, that now hung next to the banner over the fireplace. It was crooked. She was certain. Slowly, she lowered it a little, then paused and tilted her head as she looked at it, trying to decide whether it looked better. Crossing her arms, she turned her head in the other direction.

"Does that look straight?"

	Delilah was there, though she didn't seem to be too into the whole partying thing. She did the polite thing and greeted everyone, laughed at jokes, socialized, etc, before slipping away a bit later into the night (Reply to this) (Parent)

What with everything that's going on, Draco (for once) really doesn't feel like being the centre of attention, so his initial reaction is more along the lines of panicky and wanting to hide, but he mans up after a moment's hesitation and puts on his best game face. Thank you, thank you, you shouldn't have (in the tone of voice that confirms that you really should, good work).
