Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:! ic-ooc, 1998-april, character: lucy bones, x-character: amelia bones

Who:  Boneses & Scrimgeours
What:  A dance, some whiskey, and an announcement!
Where:  Quentin Black Distillery
When:  April 4 (Yesterday)
Status:  IC/OOC

Brutus' birthday is April 4, but on the morning of April 3, Amelia surprised him with an offer-- "Let's get married.  Today."

So they did.  Just the two of them at the nearest Ministry outpost.  No frills needed or wanted.

Amelia had already planned on throwing a barn dance to celebrate Brutus' birthday, but now with the inclusion of the Boneses and Scrimgeours, it also serves as the venue to annouce their marriage.  Amelia is determined not to make a Big Deal of things-- she'd much rather just celebrate the day, not get into the hows and whys of it all.  There will be dancing, drinking, and general merriment for all.

Amelia wore white, as was befitting the occasion. Her wedding rings were on her left hand now, instead of on a chain as she'd worn the engagement ring in private. Once the dancing started, she likely switched to more sensible shoes.

I HAVE NO PURPOSE HERE EXCEPT TO SAY THIS IS ADORABLE AND AMELIA IS ADORABLE.

AMELIA IS A BEAUTIFUL WIFE.

Brutus, in his traditional finery, would have been rather a jealous dancing partner. But could it be helped? He thinks not.

And he might even pick up a fiddle! But he plays a good host, too, and visits everyone in turn. He is glad to celebrate with his family and friends.

BRUTUS IS A DASHING HUSBAND.

Amelia adores the fiddle playing, naturally.

Oscar is the more grumpy Boneses but he would have been a dotting brother, and nice enough to Brutus since it isn't good to abuse a families loved one. He would have swindled Amelia into a dance, and been generally friendly and chat worthy.

Amelia would have danced with him as often as he'd liked, anything to chase the grumpy away. ;)

Susan arrived with (hopefully) her boyfriend Ernie in tow. She was surprised by the announcement and congratulated her aunt a ton and did her best to meet/mingle with Brutus for a bit without being annoying!

She danced with her dad and Ernie and her Uncle Edgar and just about everyone!

Ernie was dressed in some of his nicest dress robes in the hope of impressing Susan's family. He was a bit nervous, because well Ernie but was very attentive to Susan and danced with her and tried to make small talk, though didn't succeed all that well at smalltalk. He congratulated the couple and was generally on his best behaviour.

Amelia was somewhat surprised to see that Susan had brought along a date, but considering that she herself just surprised the rest of her family with a husband, she has relatively little room to judge. ;)

Amelia was glad to see her niece, and would have been happy to set aside some time to talk and catch up with her, if she wanted.

Eddie is a LITTLE hurt about the whole 'I didn't get to see my sister get married' thing, but he got over that quickly (or at least packed it away) enough to have a good time. Jealous dancing partner or not, he demanded Amelia for a dance or two- well, except this is Edgar, so less 'demanded' and more 'requested politely but with a hint of Older Brother' but you get the idea- and then danced with Lucy and his daughters and Susan.

A toast was made. Sorry guys, you know it was.

Amelia expected a bit of sourness from her brothers, but would have danced with them both as often as requested. (She can pacify Brutus later.)

Rufus is in attendance, and if Oscar is the grumpy Bones, then Rufus is certainly the testy one in the Scrimgeour lot -- he doesn't like surprises, especially when they involve his family. Because of the lack of forewarning, he arrives later than everyone else, straight from work, and though he is nothing but polite and happy for his brother and his new wife, and does the mingling rounds with his usual effortless charm, he doesn't stay long, departing soon after the toasts.

Brutus is so glad to see Rufus. He affords him several significant looks which translate into "let's talk later" brother-speak.

He didn't even have time to get his kilt ready for the occasion!

But Eloise is always 101% ready for these sort of things and looks fabulous, as per.

... you know, boy scout Brutus is always prepared. You might have been briefly ushered into the back, brother, unless you put up a fuss.

And Eloise is a goddess. Always a goddess. Golden (terrible and golden) ... :)

Rufus doesn't put up a fuss -- he trusts your taste in kilts, baby bro -- and wryly wonders who the third person in his life to get married will be.

Eloise snatches him for more than a few dances whilst Amelia is occupied and gives him a loving dressing down. "THERE WASN'T EVEN A WEDDING REGISTRY, BRUTUS!! You look very handsome." ...&c.

Oh good. Because those knees are pretty bonny, okay. And Rufus if you leave through Distilling shed #3 & find a printing press, then :)

" ... it was all rather sudden, and thanks, you're incredible." That's what he says and blushes. And blushes. And blushes.

... then he would kick up a fuss, so let's have him leave through another shed and not ruin the party. XD

"So did you put a bun in her oven, then?" ELOISE WANTS TO KNOW.

But I think kicking up a fuss real soon would be a blast, so table that for in the very near future. The press is upset it didn't get to carry the ring, okay.

Then Brutus actually fainted on Eloise and nobody got fiddle music. KIDDING. A hissy little "Noooooooo." That's what she gets.

Lucy (with considerably less fur) was there with Edgar, of course, and was very very happy for Amelia and Brutus! She'd have danced with anybody/everybody who wanted, and generally had a good time. :)
