REFORMIST ROWLE RELASES PROGRAMME
By Cosmo Mulciber
Today's interview is with Thorfinn Rowle. Mr Rowle, like many members of his distinguished family, has served the public in the Ministry in various capacities for almost two decades. He currently holds a position in the Floo Network Authority. This election represents Mr Rowle's first foray into electoral politics.

What makes you most qualified to lead Britain at this moment? Why do you seek the position of Minister of Magic?

Well, I would never say that I am the most qualified person to lead Britain as the Minister of Magic. However I have extensive experience in our ministry itself, for the last fifteen years, and am well acquainted with the ins and out of policy making procedures. Being a British citizen my whole life, I think, qualifies me to understand quite a bit what the British Wizarding World looks at in terms of policies, taxes, and education.

What do you believe are the key issues facing Britain?

I think many people are focusing on safety as a key issue. I agree entirely - the safety of our people is the most important thing we can be focusing on. However, I also do not want to lose sight of other important factors - like depleting resources for education at Hogwarts, or assistance for those coming in who cannot afford the tuition costs. I would like to take all these issues and designate task forces in addition to their current departments and tackle right away.

How will your Ministry improve on the policies of the current Minister with respect to those key issues?

I don't think there needs to be large changes to the current policies - personally, I think we need to be able to enforce these policies more effectively. Of course, I would love to look over each and every one of them and get rid of any loopholes. I also intend to propose a bill to increase the safety at Hogwarts. We all know it's the safest place to be, but even so - the attempted attack on teachers, the instances of bullying, I would like to implement policies that would ensure our students are happy, healthy, and safe there.
Hogwarts is the foundation of British life. Do you think any changes are needed at the school, and if so, what would they be?

As I touched on already, I do think there needs to be a few changes made in regards to how safety and bullying are handled. I've seen in journals recently mentions of bullying and skewed punishments. Of course, there also needs to be extra measures taken to check the mail as it were, or bags of students when they come back from holiday to make sure no illicit and dangerous substances enter the premises.

What economic policies, particularly with regard to taxation, spending, and jobs, do you propose to implement?

At this point in time, I do not plan to make any changes to the taxation process, though I hope to change the pathways and put the tax money into educational resources and safety. I do wholeheartedly hope to keep the restoration process of New Diagon Alley going, as constructions and new space for shops are a great way to increase job availability, revenue and generate an economic boost.

There has been an upwelling of violence in Britain of late. How do you propose to stem that tide?

I caution everyone to not panic. Panic only creates an atmosphere of distrust and unrest. If we are to succeed in stopping these criminals, we must band together and trust one another. I hope, as Minister, I will be able to assist the DMLE in any way I can to apprehend these violent few and put a stop to all this violence. As many other candidates have mentioned, we need to become not just tolerant but accepting of our muggleborn Witches and Wizards, and I hope to put policy into effect that will aid in that endeavor.

In particular, what do you believe the rise of Lady Noir means, and how will your Ministry deal with her?

The rise of Lady Noir means just as what the rise of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named meant before, just as Grindelwald before him, and so on. There have always been Witches and Wizards who believe they know what's best for our kind, and that is to remain pureblooded and undiluted by muggle relations. I do not believe this Lady Noir is any more of a threat than her predecessors, and I will support our already amazing Department of Magical Law Enforcement in their fight to stop her and others like her.
