As damning as the faint praise was, it made Ron pause and consider. Had he had an 'okay time'? It had started well enough, but could anyone actually enjoy awkward silences and struggling to find safe conversation? Ron was, for the most part, too honest to say he'd enjoyed it when he hadn't. "I'm still glad you agreed to come," he said instead. He couldn't say the evening hadn't gone as he'd hoped, because he hadn't had defined hopes - but he had been surprised and pleased that a pretty girl had agreed to go for a drink with him.
He stood, floating the empty glasses back to the bar so the staff wouldn't have to come out to collect them. "Can I walk you out? Or home?" Ron had no idea where Astoria lived, whether it was within walking distance or if she would need to apparate, but it was only polite to offer to accompany her at least as far as their feet could take them.
