Ginny blew out a breath through her nose. It was part exasperation and part relief. She started out of the kitchen, but paused and went back to where Evan still sat at the table. She leaned down and kissed his cheek. "I'm glad I know you," she told him as she straightened.
She went to the chest behind her sofa and took out her box of paints. The gold wasn't really as old as she'd claimed, but it might as well have been. She took the box to Evan then looked at the clock. Despite their conversation, she still had five minutes before she had to get to practice, but she was going to leave a little early today. "I have to go. Mum's coming over this afternoon with food. Help yourself, but please don't eat it all," she told him, smiling.
