"Jim certainly deserves a chance, I don't feel we can all just base our opinions on what Daisy thinks," Evan replied with a shrug. He loved his sister dearly but even he had to admit that Daisy could be a bit dramatic at times. Really, there was nothing wrong with Jim! He hadn't done anything to offend, perhaps unless you were offended at glowing eyes and fog and really weirdly pitched meowing. So, yeah, okay, Jim was a bit... odd. But he wasn't terrible. Presumably unless you made him you arch nemesis or something, because they he'd probably eat your eyeballs or something. Evan wasn't going to presume otherwise.
He thanked Astoria for the tea, before helping himself to some sugar and milk. "I hate proofreading," Evan said making a face. He liked the reasearch bit and he liked the writing bit, but he wasn't great at editing. Editing always seemed to highlight how little he actually knew both about the topic and the English language. Usually he just got one of his uni mates to do it for him, whilst he did theirs in return. It was a good system.
When the bowl was placed down, Jim appeared, giving Astoria a look that clearly meant that he had no interest in her wardrobe. "What would he even do there?" Evan asked, absent-mindedly petting the cat, who neither looked pleased nor deterred by the fact. "I mean, he's pretty small, I don't think your clothes would fit him," he added. Astoria wasn't a big person, obviously, but she also definitely was bigger than Jim. "He is cat sized," Evan noted in case Astoria wasn't able to tell people and cats apart. Jim meowed at the comment, but Evan couldn't really tell whether that was an agreement or a sudden realisation.
