Percy didn’t know it, but he was in for a treat that night. With their Valentine’s thoroughly taken in a different direction than originally planned, PJ felt that she and Percy deserved a proper night of romance. She had told Percy she had a show that night to throw him off. Tristan was off with Charlie for the night, and the next morning. PJ had gone to a local restaurant and picked up a good dinner of steak and veggies, with some chocolate mousse for dessert. Red wine poured, PJ had just finished her makeup when she heard Percy downstairs- likely face to face with a low light living room, their food on the coffee table with pillows to sit on.
She rushed to the stars, straightening the gray dress she’d changed into and coming down the stairs. PJ had to use the bannister to walk down the steps thanks to a littering of toddler toys on them.
“Hey- happy Valentines, take two,” she said, putting up two fingers before walking up to her husband and kissing him. She wrapped her arms around Percy, suddenly very, very happy that Charlie had been more than up to taking his nephew for the night. “So, I have dinner all ready. Wine is open. Son is with Charlie until tomorrow morning. Quake has been told not to disturb. Does that work for you?”
It was far too quiet when Percy came home. Far too quiet. He almost took out his wand on the assumption that his brothers’ had laid out some prank, but then his thoughts caught up with the situation. Nobody really felt like laughing after what happened to Ginny and he doubted even the Twins would be so cruel at this juncture. The lights were turned low and it took him a moment to adjust.
Oh this was definitely Prue’s doing. Pocketing his wand, Percy looked up just in time to see his wife walking down the stairs. Just seeing her brought a smile to his face and bled off some of the day’s tension. The fact that Charlie had Tristan for the evening triggered several questions for Percy, but she didn’t give him much time to ask or think as she informed him of how the evening was going to go.
“I think that will work perfectly.” Percy wrapped his arms around Prue and drew her close, happy to just have her in his arms.
There was a slight ulterior motive to all of this, but PJ wasn’t ready to bust that out on Percy yet. First she wanted a slow, romantic dinner with the man of her dreams. Which was hilarious, because when PJ had met him in the grocery shop years before, she’d thought of him as a curious man she’d have some fun with, and then probably break up with once he got obnoxious. And yet, that day had never come.
“I’m glad that works, I had a feeling it would. Go put your work stuff away, and we’ll eat,” PJ told him, kissing the very tip of his nose before walking to the coffee table and kneeling next to it.
She had meant what she’d written in her journal before- everyone deserved romance all the time. And right then, Percy deserved some. She knew just how hard he worked, how much he’d given up to form a family with her. The musician liked to think it had been worth it.
