Teatime
Who: Ron & Bill Weasley.
When: Friday 5th January, after work.
Where: Bill's home.
What: Ron doesn't think more talking will do any good.
It had been a long, long day at work. Between owls, poorly transfigured mattresses and Daisy, Ron had slept very little and had to be up very early. He'd had the kind of headache just painful enough to be annoying without being worth a trip to the medical centre throbbing away on one side of his skull and his emotions were a mess. He couldn't even put names to them, anymore, they'd swirled into something incomprehensible that Ron didn't know how to sort out. He still hadn't been back to the Burrow, either, and he didn't know where he was going to sleep that night. Come quitting time, Ron wasn't quite ready to face Bill. He spent half an hour or so in Diagon Alley instead, taking a pain potion and giving it time to start working.
He didn't want to talk. He'd done that already. He'd talked to Ginny - angrily - and Charlie - far more calmly - and the end result of both had been siblings who no longer wanted anything to do with him. Ron knew he was in the wrong, and he knew that the rest of his family were going to keep telling him so until he stopped being wrong, but unless he lied, he didn't know how to make that happen. Until his feelings had changed or gone away, the sensible thing seemed to be to keep out of the way. The possibility of his feelings never changing on this wasn't something Ron was prepared to contemplate.
He couldn't say he really felt any better when he apparated to Bill's, but at least his headache had gone. "Bill?" He looked around, hoping against hope that it was only Bill he had to face.
