Nikolai was going to explain about how he wanted her to have space if she needed to lie down or didn't want to be crowded, but he couldn't see much point in wasting the time when he could easily move as she'd asked and make it better.
He rose from his seat and settled on the couch beside her, hands folded loosely in his lap. He did like sitting by her, but there was a warning going off in the back of his mind, reminding him that she was not in full command of herself, so he ensured there were several inches of space between them.
"Is this better?" He asked, because he wasn't sure what else to say. He'd already made the decision not to ask her about her troubles, so this was about all he could think of.
