Nikolai was momentarily lost for words. He had imagined there was something about her past that she didn't want to talk about, but she hadn't expected this particular revelation. He needed just a moment to process as he stared at his hands that he had folded on the table.
He was not bothered by the fact that she was married, she was an adult and could make her own decisions about what she did with her time. It was what she said about the man she was married to. It hurt his insides to hear even just that briefest insight into their life together.
As a server drifted by, he murmured an order for two glasses and a pitcher of water before turning his attention fully to the drunk woman opposite him.
"Where is he now?" He asked gently. He mostly wondered because he wanted to be sure that Sasha was far away from the man. But there was an instinct to hit the guy in the face, too. Not very gentlemanly, but Nik was part wild animal, after all.
