The way she looked at him made him feel like she was staring directly into his mind. Like she knew what the answer really was, but she wanted him to say it first. If he were someone else, or even if he simply weren’t a werewolf, maybe he would have said something. He might have admitted his feelings, despite being too old for her. It was the danger that really prevented him from admitting any feelings he had for her. They were compatible, if he were to be with anyone… no, he couldn’t think that way.
“I… don’t know what else you’d like me to say…” he said, hesitantly. He leaned forward and stared down at the floor. He didn’t want to pretend not to fancy her, but it would be better for both of them.
