When she looked down at his hand, he wondered if he should let go. Perhaps he’d offended her by not allowing her to leave. Then again, she hadn’t pulled her hand away. She looked like she was contemplating it. When she agreed to stay, she didn’t sit, at least not yet, so it made him a little nervous. He dropped his hand from her wrist, so if she still wanted to leave, she could. However, he couldn’t quite ignore the shift in her tone as she spoke.
“Ah… well, thank you,” he said with a smile. “Though, the best gift is having you here.”
Considering it a moment later, maybe that wasn’t the right thing to say. Not wanting to send the wrong message, but doing so anyway wasn’t something logical people did. Remus prided himself on being logical, but a lot of the time it went out the window when she was around. It was very odd, but he sometimes felt like he was back in Hogwarts again.
